  • 1 Arrival at Bitez near Bodrum, Turkey Sailing from the base at Bitez near Bodrum you will embark on some of the most beautiful cruising grounds in the Mediterranean. Hop on board a luxury catamaran yacht for an unforgettable sailing trip around the coast of Turkey and its neighbouring Greek islands. Time to familiarise yourself with your cabin space and meet the professional crew who are on hand throughout your sailing adventure. They will give you a welcome briefing and explain about the arrangement of provisions. Meals and breakfast are provided on board, as well as water supplies, and fishing and snorkeling equipment.
  • 2 Bodrum and sailing in the Gulf of Gokova Take time to soak up the wonderful atmosphere of Bodrum with its sugar-cube houses, draped in bougainvillea, and the palm-lined streets. As well as the market, Bodrum’s outstanding Museum of Underwater Archaeology is also well worth a visit. Sail off in to the Gulf of Gokova and explore and discover small fishing villages, farming settlements, and hidden coves, where simple wooden jetties are the watermark of cheerful easy-going restaurants. Swim in the beautiful warm seas, sunbathe on desk, and stop off at one of the many coastal villages for delicious local fare at family-run water’s edge restaurant.
  • 3 Sailing around Datca, Turkey Further down the coast is Datca, an isolated and yet thriving holiday village. Catch up with some nightlife at one of the lively coastal bars or clubs, and take time to stock up with fresh supplies before venturing in to the Dorian Gulf. Dip in and out of hundreds of covers and inlets that are blessed with the invigorating scent of the pine forests that rise up from the shores. Dive and swim from the yacht, relax on deck, or take time to explore some of the wonderful underwater scenes with some snorkelling.
  • 4 Sailing in and around the Greek island of Kos The island of Kos is a wonderful mix of archaeologicalsites and beautiful beaches. Kos Town Beach has a thin strip of sand and deepwater for swimming with lots of restaurants to choose from. Kritika Beach is a long sandy stretch that’s polka-dotted with umbrellas in the summer. Stay around the yacht and the beaches, or hop off on to the island and visit the ancient agora (an ancient square) and the Hippocrates Plane Tree. It is here that Hippocrates is said to have taught his pupils. Enjoy a meal at Elia restaurant that exudes authenticity with stone walls, wood floors and walls frescoed with Greek gods.
  • 5 Sailing in and around the Greek island of Nsiros Nsiros is a quiet little Greek island with only around 1000 inhabitants. After mooring the yacht in the small harbour, soak up the atmosphere of the local market and enjoy a meal at one of the local tavernas. Hire a car for a couple of hours and make the trip to the island’s volcano – beware of the strong sulphuric smell! Carry on up to the top of the mountain to the village to visit the Volcano Museum and enjoy a spectacular view of the bay. Back to the sea and beaches for some down-time and more swimming and sunbathing.
  • 6 Sailing in and around the Greek island of Symi – back to Bodrum Once you’ve got over the initial view of Symi from the sea with one of the prettiest ports in the whole of the Dodecanese – Gialos, take time to explore the port itself. Climb up to the village of Horio via asteep cobbled stairway winding through sea captains’ houses and crumbling remains. This magical island glitters against its crystal-clear water that is so transparent in places the boats look as if they are floating on thin air. Explore the many blue coves and beaches or simply lie-back and enjoy the sensational views.

Summer is the high travel season in the Mediterranean. The weather is hot and sunny, the water is warm, and millions of people flock to the coast to soak up the sun and take a break from routine.. During the spring months, the flowers are blooming and the landscape is verdant, while autumn days are mild and clear before the winter rains.

Those wanting to travel earlier in the season can visit some of the more southern destinations as well as the larger Mediterranean islands. Cyprus and Malta are lovely in April, with warm days and pleasant nights. Late March through April is also an ideal time to visit Morocco, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, and Turkey.
