  • 1 Geneva – explore and sightseeing Start with a city tour of Geneva and see the beautiful parks along the lake, the Old Town with its cathedral, the unique town hall, and the European seat of the United Nations. Geneva is a hub of diplomacy, shopping and business. Check out the Water Jet it is Europe’s tallest fountain, spouting nearly 400 feet in to the air every second. At the International Museum of the Reformation and the Wall of the Reformers, you can trace the logic and history behind the Protestant Reformation, and learn about its key players. Explore the parkland in Geneva’s right bank, which provides the best views for seeing nearby Mont Blanc the mountain is the tallest in Europe.
  • 2 Lake Geneva –activities by the lake – exploring – cruise Make the most of being in some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe and spend a morning hiking, biking, boating or wine tasting – these are all popular activities that you can do around Lake Geneva. Take a walking tour around the shores of the lake with stunning views of the Alps beyond and the towering Jet d’Eau, the world’s tallest fountain. Soak up the atmosphere of the lake and take a dip at Bains de Paquis or just relax in one of the lakeside parks or cafes. After lunch hop on board the traditional lake steamer for awonderful cruise along the length of the lake – as you leave Geneva get a close up at the famous Jet d’Eau. The views from the steamer are out of this world.
  • 3 Lake Geneva – Castle Chillon Today, take the paddle steamer to romantic Chillon Castle and explore this fascinating medieval fortress made famous by Lord Byron an architectural jewel located in the most beautiful setting imaginable right at the foot of the Alps. The castle has always inspired artists and writers from Victor Hugo and Lord Byron to Delacroix to Courbet. Visit the underground rooms that evoke great gothic cathedrals of the 13thcentury and marvel at the four formal great halls whose windows all look out over the marvellous view of Lake Geneva.
  • 4 Montreux – exploring and sightseeing at leisure This wonderful lakeside resort has been attracting artists, writers and musicians for years. Montreux has its own mild microclimate – perfect for peaceful walks along a pretty lakeshore that is dotted with elegant 19thcentury hotels, and strolls through an ancient hilltop Old Town. Place fresh flowers at the feet of the statue of Freddie Mercury that’s located in front of Montreux’s old covered market on the waterfront. Visit the old town of Vevey that is dotted with historical monuments and museums that bear witness to its rich heritage – stroll through the narrow paved streets full of artisans and craftsmen who sell their wonderful wares. And on the Quai Perdonnet you will find the statue of the famous Charlie Chaplin who lived at Corsier-sur-Vevey for 25 years.
  • 5 Montreux – exploring and sightseeing at leisure Take a half-day excursion to Lausanne, one of Switzerland’s secret destinations that’s renowned for its elegance the historic Old Town and its well-preserved gothic cathedral, and the Olympic Committee headquarters. There are delights here to discover at every turn from monuments, architecture and flower-bedecked quays to parks, gardens and dozens of museums. Or spend half a day exploring the Valais region that’s close-by to Montreux. There are many quaint small villages to see amongst an amazing diversity of landscapes and just a few kilometres away are the highest glaciers and mountains of the Alps and almost subtropical places where even almond and pomegranate trees grow.   • 6 Zermatt – sightseeing and attractions Today make the scenic train journey through the Valais, across the Forclaz Pass, through the Rhone valley enjoying the Berner Alps to the left and the Pennines Alps to the right. Arrive at the rustic resort of Zermatt and check in to a charming mountain chalet hotel as you catch your first view of the famous Matterhorn. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon orientation walk through this charming Alpine village and learn about its history and the famous Matterhorn expeditions of the past. In the evening enjoy an elegant dinner at the Schonegg restaurant whilst marvelling at wonderful views of the Matterhoon as you dine on delicious Swiss cuisine.
  • 7 Zermatt – the Matterhorn Experience first-hand the fascinating world of Alpine peaks, glaciers and expansive ice fields, and make the 43 minute ascent to the Gornergrat on Europe’s highest tunnel free railway, the Gornergratbahn. This ride offers an ever-changing panorama of glorious Alpine scenery beginning with slopes of luscious green forest gradually opening up to a rocky summit where, perched on top, is the Gornergrat Hotel. From the terrace here you can enjoy breathtaking views and see the tallest mountains in Switzerland including Monte Rosa and the Dom and the splendid isolation of the nearby Matterhorn. Below a river of ice called the Gornergletscher will fascinate you with its immense size and its crystal blue ice sculptures.
  • 8 Zermatt Glacier Today explore the Matterhorn glacier paradise – a world of adventures. Take a cable car to the highest cable car station in Europe and see views of the highest mountains in Italy, France and Switzerland that are utterly breathtaking. From here, mountaineers and hikers set off to scale the Breithorn and for many hikers this is their first ascent of a 4000 metre peak. Stay in one place and see wonderful views from the observation platform that areso clear they seem to stretch as far as the Mediterranean. You can see Mont Blanc in France and the summit of Gran Paradiso in Italy and the air up here is so thin that you will need to take it slowly to enjoy the views. Enjoy the audio system on the ride to the summit with information about the alpine world, the cog railway and much more, and inside the mountain there is an observation window looking out over the Breithron.
