  • 1-3 Montreux – attractions, activities, fondue trail in Schonried This wonderful lakeside resort has been attracting artists, writers and musicians for years. Montreux has its own mild microclimate – perfect for peaceful walks along a pretty lakeshore that is dotted with elegant 19th century hotels, and strolls through an ancient hilltop Old Town. Visit the Chateau de Chillon on the lakeside, an unusual oval-shaped castle that was so loved by Lord Byron, and learn about the town’s local history at the Musee de Montreux. Place fresh flowers at the feet of the statue of Freddie Mercury that’s located in front of Montreux’s old covered market on the waterfront. The Fondue Trail offers the very best way of enjoying Switzerland’s national dish in a unique and special way. Buy a packet of fondue mix, pick up a rucksack packed with all the other things you need such as a fondue pan, burner and bread and set off on the path to ‘haute’ cuisine. You can collect the fonduerucksack from the Schonrieder dairy, and then head off up to the Rellerli or the Horneggli and enjoy your fondue in the open air or in a number of small mountain huts. With glorious mountain views and spectacular snow capped mountains at your side, this is eating ‘al fresco’ at its best.
  • 3-5 Lenk/Bad Ragaz – exploring and spa Located in the tourist region of the Landeserlasse district of Switzerland, this beautiful region is popular for outdoor activities and exploring as well as a hotspot for skiers, snowboard fans, tobogganists and hikers.Or head off on a sightseeing tour of the region – see St. Leonhard chapel that features three altars and diverse frescos depicting Leonhard who has been the patron saint of farmers and their cattle for centuries. And the vestibule tells the tale of the battle of Ragaz in 1446 with its fascinating pictures and captions. Visit the Tamina Canyon that demonstrates the immense power that flowing water can have – this is the curative water that brings many visitors to Bad Ragaz to experience the spas and thermal springs. And don’t miss the castle ruin of Freudenberg. The Seven Sources spa at Lenk is a magical place of health and wellness and is named after the seven springs that provide life-giving energy to the region. Relax here and soak those worries and cares away with thermal treatments, wellness massages and soothing swims.
  • 6&7 Munich and Neuschwanstein Spend the morning getting a behind-the-scenes look at Munich with a walking tour through its historic Old Town, and learn about the "checkered" history and traditions of Bavaria. The rest of the day is yours to stroll around Germany's most livable city, soak up some culture at its world-class museums, or rent a bike to pedal the car-free paths of the English Garden and Isar River. And then drive through glorious Alpine scenery to visit Bavaria's "Mad" King Ludwig's fantasy castle of Neuschwanstein perched high above the valley below. This is one of the most visited castles in Germany and a symbol of idealized romantic architecture. Among the castle's finest rooms are two magnificent halls with extravagant decorations dazzling in gold and blue. Another well-known feature of Neuschwanstein is the grotto, whose little waterfalls and colored lighting create the impression of a mysterious cave.
