  • 1 Arrive Lake Thun, leisurely walk and sightseeing On arrival take a leisurely stroll around the lake and get to know the charming Old Town of Thun. This is a very different shopping experience and you’ll find lots of Swiss goodies to buy including watches, handicrafts, arts and crafts, and, of course lots of chocolate. Relax and enjoy a delicious coffee and fresh Swiss pastry at one of the many cafes. And, if you’re there ona Saturday, there’s a wonderful local crafts market to enjoy. The Historical Museum is full of cultural and historic exhibits about the area and there’s a military collection dating from the 19thcentury. And visit Schadau Castle at Thun that stands in a wonderful English style park on the south bank of the River Aare.
  • 2 Lake Thun – cruise on the lake Enjoy a relaxing and leisurely cruise on the lake. Whilst enjoying a delicious meal, a glass of wine, or simply relaxing in the sunshine on board deck, you will travel past romantic villages, majestic historic castles and snow-capped peaks of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau. Stop off at the Beautushohlen Sundlauenen boat landing stage and walk along the trail to the impressive karst caves with their mighty stalactites, stalagmites and waterfalls.
  • 3 Lake Thun – exploring – Spiez Take a ferry to the picturesque small town of Spiez thatlies on the opposite side of the lake. Nestled between hills and vineyards and dominated by a magnificent castle, Spiez is a charming town. Take a tour of Spiez Castle with its thousand-year old castle church. Enjoy a fish lunch and fine Spiez wine served at a lakeside restaurant. And walk off your meal with a 14kmcircular hiking trail with shore path to Faulensee where you will find a museum of viticulture and local history as part of an old Simmental home. Enjoy a leisurely return trip aboard the nostalgic little blue train.
  • 4 Lake Thun – visit to Interlaken Take the paddle ship ferry, Blumlisalp, from Thun to Interlaken. The scenery at Interlaken is dazzling with the pearly white snow-capped mountains of the Eiger, the Monch and Jungfrau. Drop in to the Tourist Museum that outlines the history of the region with costumes, carriages and other curios. Take a stroll around Interlaken and find out lots of exciting information about the old houses and the customs and traditions from the 16th-18thcentury, and get to know the basics of woodcarving. For far-reaching vistas, ride the funicularto 1322m at Harder Kulm. Or hop on board the scenic Golden Pass train with its panoramic wagons travelling along picturesque Lake Brienz and the Bruenig Pass to Lucerne (about 2 hours) or through the Simmental Valley with its famous cows and resorts such as Gstaad, to Montreux (about 3 hours).
  • 5 The Jungfrau Valley – Grindelwald – Murren Explore the Jungfrau Valley and head off to Grindelwald that was one of the first tourist resorts in Switzerland and Europe. This glaciervillage lies in a valley situated in the Bernese Oberland on the northern side of the Alps and is surrounded by the spectacular mountain trio of the ‘Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau’. Grindelwald has kept its country charm and is the only mountain resort in the Jungfrau area that can be reached by car. In summer, Grindelwald is transformed into an elaborate tapestry of wild Alpine flowers, sprucefir, mountain maple and grazing cattle and is a wonderfulplace for leisurely walking, hiking and other summer sports. Take a cablecar to Murren – it’s the only way to get there! – and enjoy this tiny little village that is perched right on the edge of a 3000ft cliff. The vistas from here are the kinds of scenes that you see in your dreams – Murren is fairy-tale Switzerland come to life.
  • 6 Jungfrau Valley – Top of the Jungfrau Joch Take a full day excursion by train from Thun to the Topof Europe at Jungfraujoch snow and ice are 100% guaranteed! This Unesco World Heritage mountain peak area is a spectacular snow-capped mountain region with fabulous views from the Sphinx observation hall. There’s an impressive Ice Palace to enjoy and a hiking plateau in the glacier. This is the highest railway station in Europe and if you visit in the summer you can enjoy rides on the ski-lift, husky-drawn sledging and lots of hiking and walking.
  • 7 Jungfrau Valley – optional day trek – wellness – local cuisine Spend a day doing what you like doing best. Try some adventurous hiking – the region features more than 310 miles of summer hiking paths from strolls along the shores of the lake with its Mediterranean atmosphere to panoramic walks with view of Lake Thun and the Jungfrau Valley. Or enjoy biking through the wonderful scenery of the Bernese Oberland. And other summer sports here include horse-riding, fishing, and river-rafting. Take a half-day and enjoy a pampering session at one of the wellness spas in the locality – there is a wonderful spa at Murren where you can enjoy a soothing massage, followed by a leisurely spa, and then some relaxation on the Murren sun terrace that overlooks the dramatic mountain peaks. Enjoy superb cuisines in super locations – try the Allmendhubel Mountain Restaurant at Murren – the funicular takes you up to 1907 metres in just a few minutes and, whilst savouring delicious Swiss specialities, you will be enjoying some of the most spectacular views in Europe.
