  • 1 Arrival at Zaton Bay, near to Dubrovnik Zaton Bay is a charming and picturesque bay only 8km from Dubrovnik. All of the three villages around the bay – Zaton Mali, Zaton Veliki and Stikovica have cozy waterfront restaurants where you can taste and savour Croatian and Dalmatian specialities. Relax into the afternoon with some sensational swimming and sunbathing. Guest accommodation in cozy local guest houses.
  • 2 Dubrovnik sightseeing and attractions Prepare to be amazed by Dubrovnik, one of the most beautiful Mediterranean cities. The city is easy to explore on foot. Its paved town centre is enclosed in fortress-like 13thcentury stone walls – stretching almost 2 km around the old town, the walls offer stunning rooftop and city views out to the turquoise blue Adriatic Sea. Founded in the 7th century, for a time the city was a serious rival for Venice in terms of maritime trade, and in 1991, two out of every three buildings were damaged during the bombardment of the Yugoslav War. Since them the buildings and walls have been restored to their former glory and represent one of the most beautiful and solid fortress systems in the Mediterranean. Visit the 14thcentury Franciscan monastery that houses a treasury full of sacred art and artifacts, as well as one of the oldest working pharmacies in the world that dates back to 1317.
  • 3 Zaton Bay – sea kayaking Enjoy the day sea kayaking in the calm waters of Zaton Bay. Zaton is a deep bay protected from wind by the surrounding mountains, which makes it deal for sea kayaking. Enjoy the views of lovely turquoise coves and rocky cliffs, as well as traditional 15thand 16thcentury waterfront villas as you gently glide past. Paddle to nearby beaches accessible only from the sea, and soak up the sun.
  • 4 Peljesac Peninsula – sailing, kayaking and snorkeling After a morning transfer to Zuljana Village on the Peljesac Peninsula, enjoy exploring the Peljesac Peninsula, one of the most successful and famous wine growing regions in Croatia. This is a true oasis of peace with its vast vineyards, salt and oyster farms, quiet little towns, narrow streets and hidden beaches. Spend the day sea kayaking to the White Beach, a very special bay that can only be reached by boat or kayak – its caves and reefs make it an ideal place for swimming and snorkeling.
  • 5 Mljet Island National Park – sailing, cycling and swimming Spend on a day at this lush and green National Park. There are two salt water lakes, with a small island in the middle of the larger lake, and it is a spectacular location for kayaking, hiking, cycling and swimming. Cycle from the catamaran to the lakes, and take a boat to the small island in the lake that has a fascinating 12thcentury Benedictine monastery and church, with a romantic restaurant attached – perfect for tasting the superb local fish dishes. In the late afternoon, the boat sails towards the Peljesac Peninsula and anchors in the lively town of Ston.
  • 6 Sipan Island – sailing, cycling and hiking Today we sail between the beautiful Elaphiti Islands with occasional swimming or snorkeling stops. Our final stop is Luka Sipanska – a charming and romantic fishing village at the far end of Sipan Island that’s surrounded with palm trees – its beauty means that it is a favourite mooring place of sailing yachts. Sipan is the largest of the Elaphiti Islands. Spend time exploring its landscape, castles, chapels and monasteries by bike or on foot. Relax in the evening wandering through the village of Luka Sipanska, tasting local seafood and wines, and maybe even time for a late dip.
  • 7 Kolocep and Lopud Islands – sailing and kayaking Explore the picturesque small islands of Kolocep and Lopud with their lovely Mediterranean villages and excellent hiking trails. Kolocep’s bays, caves and covers make them a perfect place for sea kayaking. Enjoy lunch at one of the many fish restaurants in the area before transferring to the mainland.

Summer is the high travel season in the Mediterranean. The weather is hot and sunny, the water is warm, and millions of people flock to the coast to soak up the sun and take a break from routine.. During the spring months, the flowers are blooming and the landscape is verdant, while autumn days are mild and clear before the winter rains.

Those wanting to travel earlier in the season can visit some of the more southern destinations as well as the larger Mediterranean islands. Cyprus and Malta are lovely in April, with warm days and pleasant nights. Late March through April is also an ideal time to visit Morocco, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, and Turkey.
